Why Are My Nipples Do Tender?

So I have been on the shot for a year, because I have an illness that needs to be controlled. I forgot to go for my last shot, it’s been about 2 months now and I haven’t hot a period yet…about 2 weeks ago my breast started feeling very tender! Almost to the point were I can’t wear a bra. Im just trying to figure out if I need to take a pregnancy test or is this a side effect from getting off the shot? Any feedback girls?? Thanks!
